CLEAN SLATE

A positive message and state of mind are some of the reasons why Manila Luzon’s star continues to shine bright “I’m not used to being the least beautiful person in the room. So, it’s an adjustment, girl. [laughs] Why do you think I’m wearing so much make-up? I saw the picture of all of the talents. I’m like, okay, all right, put some more make-up on—more lashes, more glitter,” Manila Luzon quips quickly about seeing all the beautiful faces in her hometown, Manila, Philippines.

Credited for making a geotag famous and fabulous in the global phenomenon and Emmy-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race, Manila became so beloved for creating looks that paid homage to things that are iconically Filipino.

A lot of people are now like, “Oh, I know where that is. I know where your name comes from.” And so, any attention I can bring to the Philippines is a blessing especially around the world, you know what I mean? But my success starts way before me—it starts with my mother who really studied hard and worked hard and she wanted to have a better life for herself and for her family. So, I’m a product of that success and I am so blessed and honored that I’ve come from such a loving and supportive family. That’s one of the biggest reasons why I’ve had so much success in my life—it’s because of the support of my family. And a Filipino family is very big! So, you know, it’s a lot of upliftings. And once I got the fandom from the Philippines, I feel like I just had so much support and so much lift in my career. So, I really thank the Filipino fans.”
