In the early 1950s, when my grandpa and grandma Frederick purchased some rural acreage in Maineville, Ohio, they dug a small lake after the house was built. It didn’t cover more than a couple of acres, but it became the stage for fond memories and much of my outdoor education and recreation in my youth.
