The request for this column was simple enough. Be like Janus. Be god-like.

I appreciate the obvious Sengkang connection but not the spelling mistake. The name of my MP is spelt with an ‘m’ and we are hardly on first-name terms. Besides, Jamus Lim’s economics expertise surely doesn’t warrant an elevation to deity, even in Singapore.

My daughter clarified matters. Janus was a two-headed Roman god, capable of looking forward and back, a link between old journeys and new beginnings. He was the god of doorways. (She reads Percy Jackson novels. She doesn’t work in Ikea.)
