MATERIALS

• Calor Yarns Plassard Champetre 50g: two balls of Grey Tones (73) [Main (M)]
• Calor Yarns Merino Soft DK 50g: one ball Silver (90) [Colour 1 (C1)], one ball Cream (12) [Colour 2 (C2)], one ball Blossom (471) [Colour 3 (C3)]
• One set of 3.25mm (UK 10/US 3) double-pointed knitting needles (set of five needles)
• One set of 3.75mm (UK 9/US 5) double-pointed knitting needles (set of five needles)
• One pair of 3.25mm (UK 10/ US 3) knitting needles
• One pair of 4.00mm (UK 8/ UK 6) knitting needles
• Removable stitch markers
• One set of 12mm ( 1/2in) safety eyes
• Black tiger tail jewellery wire
• Two 2cm ( 3/4in) squares of felt (whiskers)
• Two 40cm (16in) lengths of round elastic (cat’s skirt)
• Craft glue
• Polyester fibre fill
• Yarn needle
• General sewing supplies

Finished size: Length approx (head, body, legs): 50cm (19 3/4in) Chest circumference approx: 32cm (12 1/2in)

Note: Read all the instructions before starting the project. This toy cat requires intermediate knitting skills. The cat is knitted in pieces. Parental warning: Parental supervision for children under three years is recommended as this toy has small parts that may present a choking hazard. Safety eyes are recommended, but if preferred the eyes may be embroidered using stranded cotton or yarn instead. If using glass cat eyes with a shank, be aware that these eyes are not suitable for children under three years. The whiskers are made using a lightweight jewellery wire which is not suitable for children under four years.

ABBREVIATIONS

= alternate; = begin, beginning; = continue; = decrease, decreasing; = follows, following; = increase, increasing; = lifted increase — knit into top of st below next st on left needle, then into st on needle to create one extra st; = knit; = knit 2 sts together (right-leaning decrease); = pick up the horizontal thread between the last st worked and the next st with the left needle= pick up the horizontal thread between the last st worked and the next st with the left needle from the front, and knit into the back to make a stitch (left-leaning increase); = purl; = pattern; = remain, remaining, remainder; = repeat; = right ride; = slip next 2 sts knit ways one at a time to right needle, insert left needle into front of these 2 slipped sts from left to right and knit them together to decrease one st (left-leaning decrease); = knit on right side rows and purl on wrong side rows; = knit every round; = stitch/es; = through back loop; = together; = wrong side.
