The Beautiful south

There are two main routes onto the Isle of Skye – over the Skye Bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh (with most visitors stopping off at the photogenic Eilean Donan Castle en route) that brings you to near Kyleakin, or by ferry from Mallaig on the mainland to Armadale in south Skye.

But though most visitors arrive in Skye’s stunning south, they very quickly tend to head north, to Portree (Skye’s main town) and the famous, eye-catching attractions of the Trotternish Peninsula.
