The colourful past of the Norwich canary

I DECIDED to delve back into raising Norwich canaries... again. I thought I should look up whatever information I had on hand to help me in my continuing journey as a canary breeder. Accordingly, I pulled out the books and papers I had and started going through them. It was interesting to see the many artists’ versions of the Norwich canary over the years.

For fanciers of the various time periods, these artists’ renditions were their only reference point to the standards of the time throughout Britain, as photography was in its infancy.
