Bringing home our new addition to the family wasn’t quite how I’d always dreamed it would be. It was 2017 and my partner, Zander, 65, and I had bought a puppy, Amber, because we were starting to think that we’d never be able to get pregnant.
I’d always longed for a baby.
But we’d been trying for three years, and the doctors couldn’t tell us why we weren’t successful.
I felt crushed and had lost hope.
So, Zander and I went for the next best thing and got ourselves a dog.
Only, in October 2019, I realised I’d missed a period, so I did a pregnancy test.
When I looked down and saw that it was positive, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
To say that Zander and I were over the moon is an understatement.
