Tractor-pulling, rhubarb and potatogrowing contests, a Ferris wheel the centrepiece of an array of brightly lit fairground rides.

Country music performers bringing the place alive, while the smell of hot dogs and popcorn wafted among the crowds.

Fairground workers dinging bells, luring excited children and their parents over to win ‘a prize every time’.

That was the four-day Barton County Fair.

Good, wholesome family fun.

Among the stallholders were Alfred and Pauline Carpenter, 78 and 79, selling handmade jewellery, handbags and purses.
