We have seen a lot of gantries over the years. The most publicised were the concepts developed by Silsoe Research Institute and David Dowler in the 1980/1990s and more recently Asa-Lift developed the short-lived 9.0m WS9000 (Wide Span).
But it seems the idea is far from dead. Developed in Germany, the latest gantry concept is claimed to take Controlled Traffic Farming (CTF) to the next level with an electric-powered 6.0m-24m version that can be used for all tasks, including cultivating, drilling, spraying and even harvesting, with or without a driver.
