ritten for the younger, less experienced pianist, Granados’s comprises ten contrasting pieces – some readers (Nos 2, 3, 5 and 7 have appeared in past issues). All the pieces bear descriptive titles – such as ‘La mendiga’ (the beggar girl) and ‘Canción de mayo’ (May Song) – but here, for No 6, Granados just gives us the marking (very slow, with tenderness) at the start.
