A place in the sun

Year after year, Marinda Joubert of Ventersburg watches the sunflowers as they come up and brighten – simply perfect for a photoshoot.

“I like taking pics of sunflowers in all their phases: from when the seeds germinate and then take shape again in the flower. My husband, Wikus, farms with sunflowers here between Ventersburg and Kroonstad. We plant by December and harvest in March and April.”

Sunflowers lend themselves to photographs, especially if it’s a field full of yellow flowers that fill
