The battered black and blue 1985 Ford van could often be seen driving around New Britain, Connecticut.

It belonged to drifter William Devin Howell.

He used it while he did odd jobs and mowed lawns in neighbourhoods in 2003.

Originally from Hampton, Virginia, William had been in trouble with the law over drug related crimes, before moving on to Connecticut.

William was the man in the background of society, who people trusted to do their DIY but then quickly forgot. But today, they all know him by name.
