‘Inspiration for my creations is the amazing textile heritage in this country’
Lisa Watson, 51, makes traditionally British quilts, cushions and blankets. She lives in Manchester with her children Joe, 21, and Iona, 18, and their rescue dog B.
I grew up sewing, with one of my most treasured possessions being a needle box my grandmother gave me. I made my own clothes as a teenager, took a degree in fine art textiles, and worked in arts and education until I turned 40, which felt like the right time to start my own small business.
Combining my love of textiles, design, colour and our amazing British textile heritage, I make unique Harris Tweed quilts with the utilitarian strip patchwork first seen in North East England. I love Harris Tweed cloth as it is natural, distinctive, feels amazing and smells great. The weaves and colours in the cloth evoke the beautiful landscape of these
