Lizzie Lane

As a columnist on this magazine, I’ve profiled scores of busy writers. But it’s a long time since I spoke to one who works as hard as Lizzie Lane, so I was keen to find out how she manages to fit so much into her writing life. Where did she live as a child, did she always want to be a writer, and what has she written to date?

‘I grew up in a red brick council house in Bedminster, Bristol,’ she says. ‘We had three bedrooms between seven of us. Mum was a housewife and also an excellent oral story teller. Dad worked in the tobacco bonds, loved opera, and would read any non-fiction.
