Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 380

Jeanneau representatives Catherine Guiader and Paul Fenn joined us for our sail trial aboard the new Sun Odyssey 380, and so began a pleasant and informative day of sailing on a boat that ticks a broad array of boxes. Per the reps, during the 2021 Annapolis boat show just days prior, three SO 380’s had been sold to three very different pairs of sailors: one couple was upsizing, another was downsizing, while a third was purchasing their first boat. This kind of diversity speaks volumes to the boat’s versatility and appeal. The fact that the SO 380 scored a win as the top monohull cruising boat under 40ft in SAIL’s 2022 Best Boats contest should come as no surprise to anyone.

CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN

For the 380, Jeanneau continued its collaboration with designer Marc Lombard,, because it provides both an attachment point for a Code 0 and moves the anchor farther forward and away from the stem, thereby reducing the potential for creating dings when getting underway.
