With three F1 world championships under his belt, the most recent in 1966, Sir Jack’s endorsement brought 9bhp more to the 1159cc ‘90’ model (in Standard, SL or Deluxe) were it a four-door, two-door or an estate. Vauxhall achieved this by adding a second Stromberg 150CD carburettor to a special inlet manifold, as well as a four-into-one exhaust of which a larger bore downpipe was fitted.
