GAY PAGES 100 EDITION CELEBRATION
We established many deeply significant relationships since 1992 when Rubin van Niekerk, a financial consultant, with an HR background established, Africa’s first gay business association, named The Family Business to promote business networking, which spawned the Gay Pages on 10 December 1994. His Coming of Age in Port Elizabeth in the ‘80s article in the Summer 2019 edition, were followed by many requests for a timeline follow up, so he wrote something on a similar, more personal note about the origins of the Family Business, in the nostalgic Special Collector’s Edition of 2020. The dishy cover boy was Jarryd Nurden who played Rocky in a highly successful Rocky Horror Show.
It’s incredible to think we are now celebrating our 100th edition and reflecting on magnificent moments over 30 years in the Spring 2021 edition. that they treasured over decades in some cases. We regularly receive calls from readers who wish to replace lost copies that they had some or other strong emotional connection to, which is beyond heart-warming.
