often get story pitches that allude to the boating season. What boating season? Here in Florida, we enjoy year-round cruising – or very nearly so. Plus, at this month’s cover yacht – there is little you can’t do. These owners wanted the kind of yacht that could do just about anything, be it a jaunt to the Bahamas or the Caribbean in winter or an adventure way up north, maybe to undertake the Northwest Passage. That famed and sometimes elusive crossing is also on the to-do list for She’s already done quite a bit. One muggy day in West Palm Beach, the crew unplugged the boat from shore power and neatly arranged ropes and fenders in a locker, while the captain gingerly pulled off the dock. Next stop, the Canaries. eventually made her way to the Svalbard archipelago – with a 10,000-nautical-mile journey worthy of a Voyager’s Award. Hoteliers have breathed new life into historic inns that have not lost any of their charm but have upped their game and may entice you to step off the yacht for a night or two. The point is, it’s always boating season somewhere.
