OBITUARY: GARY MORRISON

Gary Leslie Morrison, the genius electronics engineer behind the brands Craft Audio, Plinius Audio and Pure Audio died on the 11th February 2021 at Wellington Hospital, New Zealand, aged 68.

Gary was the eldest child of Tom, a company accountant, and Betty, a registered nurse. His early years were spent with his brothers Nigel and Scott and his sister Jane at the family home in Fitzroy Road, New Plymouth, on New Zealand’s North Island, where Gary attended Fitzroy primary school. It was in New Plymouth that Gary’s love of cars was kindled by the family’s visits to the Speedway.

In 1960 the family moved to Whangarei, north of Auckland, a town where his brother says “rugby was compulsory” and Gary became very good at the sport, and renowned for his ability to kick a ball clear over the family home.
