Plenty would argue that Bushtracker is up there with the best caravan builders we have, and after spending time with a remarkable example in the hinterland of northern NSW, I’m finding there isn’t much to argue against — mind you, at $212,000 and change, it would want to be pretty good, even in today’s COVID-taxed market.
Bushtracker has been producing gritty offroad caravans for over 25 years from their Sunshine Coast factory in south-east Queensland, and as of the end of 2021, there were around 2500 Bushtrackers on the road.
Each van is custom-built to customer requirements, and it’s said that no two vans have ever been the same. Because of the customisation and meticulous care in build quality, they take much longer to complete than high volume vans off a production line.
Build times for a Bushtracker can take up to three months, but with a staff of over 60, and 20 vans in various stages of production at any one time, the company still turns out six vans a month. This extended time spent in the build reflects in the price, of course. But
