Step into stunning Shropshire

I donât like shopping, I hate crowds and Iâm certainly not one for lying on the grass in the sunshine watching the world go by. I live to explore. My husband feels the same way (thank goodness). Which is how we came to have the fascinating back streets of two of Shropshireâs most popular towns almost to ourselves.
Whilst the historic centre of Ludlow was thronged with sightseers spilling out of the wonderful food emporiums and cafĂŠs, we were wandering through quaint streets lined with hundreds of listed buildings from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, as well as sitting on Whitcliffe Common looking over the rooftops in a tranquil little world of our own.
It was the same in bustling Bridgnorth. I found it odd that so few other people were exploring the hundreds of steps that connect the low and high parts of town, or the Cartway â named after the method once used to haul goods up from the wharves in the days when Bridgnorth was the countryâs largest inland port.
We soon found out where everyone else was; they were sprawled between the colourful flower beds in the lovely castle grounds or gliding up the sandstone cliffs on the Cliff Railway funicular. Nevertheless, it was simple enough in both these
