What Is Your Job Really Worth?

I just finished reading Rebecca Macfie’s excellent article about insecure work. A few years ago I worked in the office for a labour hire firm that mainly operated in the construction industry. Not only were people placed in insecure roles like those detailed in the article, but they were actually contractors to the company!

The majority of the people had poor literacy and English language skills, and I truly don’t think they realised that they were essentially becoming self-employed
