BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO: QUILT-AS-YOU-GO WITH SELVEDGES

Selvedges are created at the edges of a fabric when the warp and weft threads are woven together. The weft threads have loops at either side, creating the finished selvedge. These loops mean that the fabric will not fray along the edge, as there are no loose threads.

You can increasingly find fabrics featuring beautiful designs along the selvedge, incorporating sayings or little illustrations. They can often feel too precious to throw away, so why not save them up until you have a collection to use in a project such as this one?
