BASS WEEK

30 July-7 August, Bassenthwaite SC, Bassenthwaite Lake, Cumbria

OVERVIEW: Nine days of racing and partying in the beautiful Lake District, at the foot of Skiddaw and close to the town of Keswick. Camping available on site. Social programme for all the family. A mix of fleet and handicap racing suits all abilities. Some races are run as a series whilst other races are one-offs. The best value summer race week!

INSIDER TIP: Tactically make friends with a GP14 sailor, with a plan to borrow their boat for one of the two highly-contested pursuit races. GP14s have won more than any other class!

FILEY REGATTA

21-22 May, Filey SC, Arndale Country Carpark, Filey, North Yorkshire

OVERVIEW: Filey SC is celebrating over 70 years of sailing in beautiful Filey Bay this year. Racing for PY1250 and below with P and W/L courses. Clubhouse bar and catering across the weekend, including a Saturday evening hog roast and pudding. Camping available.

ROYAL YORKSHIRE YACHT CLUB ANNUAL REGATTA

6-12 August, Royal Yorkshire YC, Bridlington, East Yorkshire

OVERVIEW: Racing in and around Bridlington Bay with classes for IRC cruisers, local handicap cruisers, dayboats/sportsboats, Co26s and Yorkshire One Designs, supported by a varied social programme including some extra special events to celebrate the club’s 175th anniversary.

ULLSWATER YACHT CLUB HOLIDAY WEEK

8-12 August, Ullswater YC, Pooley Bridge, Cumbria

OVERVIEW: A combination of racing, children’s activities, tuition, leisure sailing and family fun on and off the water, as well as daytime and evening entertainment and catering. A packed five-day programme includes a kids’ club and sailing lessons on a morning and racing on an afternoon with a prizegiving every day. Also on offer are opportunities to explore the lake with the leisure sailing group and fun water activities for everyone. Tents and campervans (sorry no caravans) are welcome on the club’s ‘Birkett field’ with its stunning lake views.

INSIDER TIP: Make the most of what beautiful Ullswater has to offer – take to the hills, go for a ride on an iconic Ullswater Steamer or simply relax and enjoy the scenery.

61st THREE RIVERS RACE

28-29 May, Horning SC, Norfolk Broads

OVERVIEW: A true spectacle, the Three Rivers Race sees upwards of 100 boats leave Horning SC to participate in the tough 50-mile endurance race, which will see competitors sail through the night, across the Broads and lowering their masts under three bridges.

INSIDER TIP: Great spectator points - Bridge include Cote and the d Acle Medieval ’Azur Bridge Potter , where Heigham exciting mast lowering/raising can be seen.
