Celebrities such as Christine McGuinness and Melanie Sykes have recently spoken candidly about their autism diagnosis, and they are just two of a growing number of women being diagnosed in adulthood.
While there is an increase in referrals for both men and women, the National Autistic Society says that women can be better at ‘masking’ signs of autism, so it can be harder to assess and diagnose.
This week is talks to Abigail Adams, who was diagnosed with the condition soon after her teenage daughter.
