MY STORY

uying our first home was a spontaneous decision. We’d been renting a house in Bingham but went for a nosey around this new-build development. We hadn’t planned to buy for a year or so, but it was in the perfect location and there were only two homes left for sale. Luckily there was a 5 per cent NHS discount, and we could use the government’s Help to Buy scheme, which gave us a five-year interest-free loan for 20 per cent of the 25 per
