I frequently think about that quote, which has been attributed to Oscar Wilde. When used ironically, it can be a funny way to comment about something that is actually subpar. It’s the kind of quote that’s fun to say when your coworker lifts an eyebrow because they see you eating cold mac and cheese from a cracked plastic container - again.
Although Oscar Wilde and I technically work in the same profession (writer, not bus driver), Wilde enjoyed a bit more success and fame than I have so far. He was quite witty, and even though he might have said that phrase tongue-incheek, there was probably some truth to it when he said it.
