FLORIDA KEYS
About 100,000 years ago, after the last ice age, the sea levels dropped. A chain of exposed coral reefs became fossilized. Today, this archipelago of more than 1,000 coral and limestone cays makes up the southernmost part of the United States. Many of the keys are quite small and not inhabited by people.
