A Lek
Without doubt, the easiest way to sneak in on a Fallow buck is to know where a lek is located. A lek is a staging area for a buck to strut his stuff and announce to all that he’s ready to mate. My experience is that these are not overly common, as I have only located two on the many properties I have hunted. One was at South Head and the other at Whanganui.
The Whanganui lek stands out to this day in how impressive it was and how strongly deer were drawn to it. Located on a large flat in a tight bush block, it was excellent to stalk into and observe bucks.
