Travel is in our genes. As a species we have been on the move for centuries, at first living as nomadic hunter-gatherers to survive, then latterly roaming the Earth to discover the world we live in today, driven by curiosity to know what lies over the horizon.
It’s only recently in our history that we have become more sedentary and settled, but even then the desire to explore has remained for some, if not all, of us in one form or another.
There is an undeniable romanticism to travel, the very thought of setting foot on foreign lands, escaping the ordinary to search for something new, embracing uncertainty in a world of unknowns, even if only for a few weeks at a time.
