The Inca Empire
THE Inca Empire was a kingdom in South America that flourished from the early 1400s until the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, or conquerors, in the 1530s. At its height, the empire stretched along the Pacific coast from what’s now Ecuador to Chile, comprised 2 million km2 and had a population of 10 million people, making it the largest civilisation in South America.
