South Africa’s next general election will take place in May 2024. Two years may seem a long way off, but in political terms it’s very short indeed.
The current political climate is not particularly conducive to the ANC remaining in power, with external issues the party can do little about, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the resultant increasing cost of fuel, and the expectation that global inflation will continue to rise.
