To protect and conserve the 35 landscapes of the Kruger National Park (KNP), the Section Ranger is supported by several field rangers (game scouts). These men (and in the past few years, also women) are the eyes and ears of the Section Ranger as they undertake daily foot patrols assessing veld and animal conditions, the availability of natural water holes, the presence of alien-invader plants, monitoring disease outbreaks and the possible intrusion of unwanted poachers.
