Hodge claims ‘unexpected’ HOYS qualification

HARRIET HODGE dominated all three of the large pony Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) qualifiers, taking two wins on a pony she has partnered for just three weeks alongside a surprise victory on another making his JA debut.

Her winning performance on Little Charlie II in the pony showjumper of the year qualifier was “completely unexpected”, as they had only taken the decision to step the Irish eight-year-old up from JC the week before.

“Last year he wasn’t even eligible to jump the JC qualifiers, so we were a bit hesitant to step him up to JA, ” said
