FELIX VOGG ended Switzerland’s 71-year wait for a five-star title with a birthday win aboard Colero in the Longines CCI5*, with Britain’s Kirsty Chabert also scoring the biggest result of her career to take the runner-up spot with Classic VI.
Felix, who turned 32 on the final day of the German five-star, and the particular 14-year-old gelding delivered a masterclass in all three phases to win on their dressage score of 29.
This horse has a solid, but not immaculate, showjumping record, and as Felix cantered into the main arena, last to go, he could afford a couple of time-penalties, but no rails. But while this was only their second five-star together, they have experience as a combination in high-pressure atmospheres, including the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and 2018 World Equestrian Games.
