GIFT OF A LIFETIME

Sitting in hospital, hooked up to dialysis, I felt miserable.

Just weeks earlier I’d been living the high life in London.

Playing bass guitar in a rock band, I spent my days rehearsing and jamming, and my nights partying.

We even had a potential record deal lined up – it was the start of something exciting.

In 1971, aged 21, it felt like my life was taking off.

After some studio time one day, though, I suddenly started to feel unwell.
