Dealing with unusual jurisdictions is very much the norm for family historians, and there’s a nice little quirk at the heart of Aberdeenshire’s heritage. The county of Aberdeenshire and the county of Aberdeen are separate local authorities. Yet the archive service for both is in Aberdeen, along with the rest of the council offices.
