We talk to Caroline Smith about her love for sewing & how lockdown has given Sew La Da a new direction!
As a young girl, I learnt to crochet and knit with my mum, I was itching to sew and eventually when my legs grew long enough at the age of seven so I could use the treadle machine to sew. My mum and dad were both artisans and I was lucky that sewing came naturally to me!
By the time, I was 13 years old I was cutting my own patterns from newspaper! I remember seeing a dress in ‘Jackie’ magazine and wanted to make it for
