“This IS a Drill!”
our Autumn 2021 article, “The Making of , brought back a memory from my time on a U.S. Navy ship. My department head, Lieutenant Commander Handle, had worked as an extra on the movie when he was enlisted. He pointed out the boat on which he was the coxswain, seen in the film where the ships are burning and small boats are crossing the harbor. He told a story about an old navy chief who had served on subs in World War II, who was taking a nap in the back of one of the tourist boats. The planes they used in the movie
