Rolling blackouts threaten South Africa’s food security

The extended period of Stage 6 blackouts experienced across South Africa in early July threatened the viability of the agriculture sector. An escalation to Stage 7 or higher would be catastrophic, according to Christo van der Rheede, executive director of Agri SA.
