After nearly two years in self-enforced Covid-avoiding confinement, I finally took the dive and travelled from sunny Southern California to beautiful upstate New York, which was in its late spring / early summer glory. I was greeted by lush green landscapes, fed by ample supplies of rainwater, both of which are in short supply in my normal (and drought-stricken) QTH.
Unfortunately, I could not drive on this multi-purposed trip, as I am recovering from knee replacement surgery (those high-school sports injuries have a way of exacting their toll), so driving a car some 2,800 miles (one way) with the leg in a fixed position was not a good thing to do. I was relegated to the not-so-accommodating skies, along with the rest of the passengers that filled my flights. In retrospect, it may have been quicker to drive.
