Your privacy when in public spaces has been back in the news of late. A recent report from Choice Magazine revealed that a number of major Australian retailers (notably Bunnings, Kmart and The Good Guys) have been using advanced facial recognition on customers in their stores, allowing them to track who is coming and going, what the customers do when they’re there, and when and how often those particular customers visit the store. Using information gathered at checkout, they can easily link faces to identities, and have likely built up a rather substantial database of private information about their customers.
