Death on a dirt road

It was a crisp autumn day when Karla Van Dusen phoned her mother for the last time.

Karla, 49, told her mum that she was on the road in Tampa, Florida.

She was driving her Jeep Cherokee behind her husband Richard, 58, who was at the wheel of the couple’s 1971 red Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup truck.

Richard had been in the process of selling the vintage truck.

He’d listed it for sale in the local paper for $13,700.

Now, on the phone, Karla told her mum that Richard had a potential buyer.
