As the daughter of an Olympic medallist, Shakira Akabusi has grown up with a strong work ethic – and a little bit more.

“I learnt about hard work, determination,” says the influencer and podcast host, whose father is former sprint and hurdle star Kriss. “But what I also saw was my dad relying on his support network and having a team.”

Over the past seven years, Shakira, 34, has built her own network: an online community following her Strong Like Mum platform, which encourages mothers like her – she has children Rio, seven, Ezra, four, and two-year-old twins Asher and Arya – to reconnect with their confidence, creativity and passions.

It’s a theme she has carried on into her new book, The Strong Like Mum Method.
