Breaking new ground for luxury brands
If you have driven past Pōkeno (south of the Auckland Bombay Hills) in the last couple of years you will be aware of the area’s explosion of growth. New-build housing has spread far and wide and a large dairy factory dominates the landscape. What was a tiny village boasting Pōkeno Bacon, giant ice-creams, petrol and a population of 600 in 2013, is now busting at the seams with 3320 people living in the town and it’s still growing; a Countdown supermarket has opened, as well as a bistro bar and accommodation, all changing the face of the town. The traditional Sunday market remains very popular.
