Thousands of years ago, the city of Babylon stood on the banks of the great river Euphrates. Around it, flat plains stretched as far as the eye could see. They were covered with farms, watered by a system of canals and aqueducts.
Babylon was the Largest city in the world, and the capital of a mighty empire. Its most famous ruler was called Nebuchadnezzar. During his reign, Babylon became wealthier and more powerful than ever before.
