Creative Purpose

After a successful six-year run of Singapore Design Week (SDW), which garnered a growing interest and following among local audiences, DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) announced in 2019 that the festival would take a break in 2020 to recalibrate, and return in 2021. The one-year hiatus stretched into two, thanks to the pandemic, but SDW will finally make its return this month with a refreshed format to showcase the best of design from Singapore and beyond.

The pause gave the team led by festival director Mark Wee, who stepped down as executive director of Dsg this June, passing the mantle to Dawn Lim as he remains on board as an adviser, plenty of time to deliberate
