Meet the Lims! Singapore’s most creative family.
A decade ago, two designer parents embarked on the coolest creative project ever: to create an annual family zine–a FAMzine–with their children. Editor (and mum) Claire Lim chats with us about this journey and the process of documenting and archiving their family memories each year.
Tell us who is in your family.
There’s Pann and me, Claire, and we met as classmates back in 1996. There’s Renn, our son who’s nineteen, and Aira, our sixteen-year-old daughter.
How did you start Rubbish FAMzine?
We actually started our family art collective called Holycrap in 2011, when Renn was eight and Aira was five. The kids loved doodling and painting when they were young, and we enjoyed collecting their little random scribblings and art. It was a natural progression that we wanted to exhibit some of Renn’s paintings and doodles, and that was really the beginning of our journey.
