SALT-GLAZED POTTERY: Throwing salt into the kiln during the ceramic firing process creates a texture often described as “like an orange peel.” Production of salt-glazed stoneware arrived America in the 1770s, and the pieces became a very functional and popular nonpourous houseware… until the introduction of the Mason jar.

□ 13" x 23" black wool for background □ 4 ½" x 7" gray herringbone wool for bowl □ 2" x 7" gray solid wool for base and top inside □ 2" x 2 ½" dark blue mottled wool for bowl design □ 1 ½" x 10" green solid wool for stems □ 2½" square green herringbone wool for leaves □ 2" x 2 ½" green plaid wool for leaves □ 2½" square brown wool for calyxes □ 2" x 2 ½" gold wool for flower petals and buds □ 3" square yellow wool for flower petals and buds □ 3" square orange wool for flower petals and buds □ 3" square red wool for flower petals and buds □ 3" square dark red stripe wool for flower petals and buds □ 13" x 23" green flannel for backing □ Valdani size 12 perle cotton in: Deep Gray (126), Darkened Blue (H207), Garnets (O503), Terracotta Twist (O510), Olive Green (P2), Tarnished Gold (P5), and Brown (P12) □ Fusible web (Karen prefers Soft Fuse) □ Fabric marking pen of choice
