What do our favourite duo Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown have in common with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski and Keanu Reeves? They’re all starring in the new animated blockbuster, DC League of Super-Pets. Yes, Morris and Brown are mixing with the bigwigs of Hollywood after scoring the roles of Keith and Mark, two hapless guinea pigs.
Here, WHO chats to Australia’s newest Tinseltown exports about the project...
Did either of you have a process to get into character? Morris: Not after the details Dr Chris told me! Brown: I was sharing details around the true workings of guinea pigs, what’s important to them and how they live their life. M: Dr Chris told me that they eat their own poo-poos, so I’m going, “Yeah no, that’s not a great detail.”
B: They do it for a good reason. We insisted on having a little bowl of chocolate bullets in the studio just so we could feel that. Just to nibble on a couple between takes.
M: And I do love a snacky to be fair. You know what I’m like without my sugar. This is different to your work in the past. Was it challenging making this film? B: It’s a mental challenge to match your voice and your speech to the movements of an animated guinea pig. There’s timing signals that you’re given, where you land your first word to make sure it would sync. M: Technically, there’s two sticks that meet and, when they do, you start talking. There’s a moment beforehand where you’re like, “Get it right, get it right, get it right, here come the ribbons, oh my god they’re touching, I should be speaking
